Our Mission

At Guardians Unseen, we advocate for children whose voices are too often ignored by the very systems meant to protect them. We support foster families and community members who speak up when DCF or the courts fail to act—and we refuse to accept silence or red tape as an excuse for inaction.

Our mission is to amplify the truth, hold institutions accountable, and demand that child welfare decisions are guided by safety and evidence—not appearances, timelines, or bureaucracy.

We believe that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and safe.

Our Story

We didn’t set out to become advocates—we were forced to.

For over 3 decades, our founder operated a daycare in Massachusetts. Over the decades, she saw it all: children neglected by the adults around them, families trying their best under impossible pressure, and systems that were far too quick to look the other way. Eventually, she became a foster parent herself—stepping in to protect children who needed more than just a temporary place to stay.

What followed opened our eyes to a system that claims to protect children but often fails them entirely. Judges making life-changing decisions without ever meeting the child. DCF prioritizing reunification over safety. Social workers, therapists, and even foster parents silenced by a process that punishes those who speak out.

We saw how easily children could be harmed by the very agencies meant to help them—and how often those harms were ignored.

That’s why Guardians Unseen was created: to fight for those children, support the families trying to protect them, and expose the painful truths too many are afraid to say out loud.

We are not a caseworker, a court, or a crisis line. We are a watchdog, a resource, and a community for people who believe that protecting children is more important than protecting the system.

Who We Stand With

At Guardians Unseen, we stand with the people who speak up when others stay silent — those who protect children, even when it comes at a personal cost.

We stand with:

  • Foster families who have been ignored, silenced, or retaliated against for challenging unsafe reunifications.
  • Mandated reporters who risk backlash for trying to do the right thing.
  • Caregivers and educators who see warning signs that others overlook — and refuse to look away.
  • Relatives and kinship caregivers trying to shield children from cycles of trauma, only to be dismissed by the system.
  • Advocates and whistleblowers who expose failures within DCF and the courts.
  • Children and youth who’ve endured decisions made without their voice, their safety, or their best interest at heart.

We stand with every person who has been told to be quiet, move on, or trust a system that keeps letting children down.

We believe your voice matters. And we will help it be heard.

Why We Remain Anonymous — For Now

You may notice that we don’t include our full names or faces on this site.

That’s intentional.

We are currently involved in advocating for children who are still entangled in active cases with DCF and the courts. Speaking out about these injustices—while protecting the identities and privacy of the children involved—requires caution. Unfortunately, retaliation against foster families, caregivers, and mandated reporters is real, especially when they challenge the system or expose what others want to keep quiet.

Remaining anonymous allows us to continue our advocacy without creating additional risk or barriers for the children we’re fighting to protect. It allows us to share the truth—boldly and honestly—without compromising their safety or ours.

This isn’t about hiding. It’s about protecting the mission.

And one day, when the time is right, we will share our names and faces. But for now, we stand as Guardians Unseen—watching, speaking, and refusing to back down.
